CSC WINS 2005 “BEST AWARD” FROM THE AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT
Award Recognizes CSC’s Global Learning and Development Programs
EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Oct. 18 – Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) announced today that it has won a 2005 “BEST Award” from the American Society for Training & Development (ASTD) for its global learning and employee development programs.
The ASTD BEST Awards recognize organizations that demonstrate enterprise-wide success as a result of employee learning and development. This year’s 29 award winners are recognized in a special section of the October issue of Training + Development, the ASTD’s monthly magazine, and were honored during a reception on Oct. 6 in Washington, D.C.
CSC’s Global Learning and Development Management department was recognized for its programs that provide opportunities for employees across the company to improve their competencies and skills. The department sponsors the Senior Leader Development Program, which provides approximately 1,800 CSC senior executives, succession plan candidates and high potential leaders with coaching and individual development plans to help them grow for the next leadership opportunity.
“The 2005 ASTD BEST Award winners set the standard of excellence for exceptional practices in employee learning and development,” said ASTD President and Chief Executive Officer Tony Bingham. “The winning organizations understand how to leverage employee learning with other critical business functions to achieve maximum impact, efficiency and performance across the enterprise.”
“We are very pleased to be recognized by the ASTD for our learning and development activities,” said CSC Chief Learning Officer Holly Huntley. “This award underscores CSC’s dedication to growing its employees’ skills, and providing them with the experience to deliver significant business and operational results to clients.”
BEST Award recipients submitted quantitative and qualitative information to the ASTD about their learning and development practices and programs. Applications were assessed by members of the BEST Awards advisory committee, a group of chief learning officers and experts in the learning and performance field.
