Computer Sciences Corporation and Team CSC Extend Successful Partnership for Three YearsEL SEGUNDO, Calif., July 18 – Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC), together with Team CSC, announced the extension of CSC’s ongoing sponsorship during a press conference earlier today in Pau, France. CSC has sponsored the professional cycling team since 2001. The agreement runs through the 2008 cycling season.
“Team CSC is among the best cycling teams in the world,” said CSC President and Chief Operating Officer Mike Laphen. “Our relationship during the past four years has given our brand a phenomenal amount of exposure. We’re very proud of the team’s success and look forward to even greater achievements in the next three years.”
“CSC has been a great partner to us, and we are happy that we can continue together,” said Bjarne Riis, manager of Team CSC and winner of the 1996 Tour de France. “We have big plans going forward, and CSC is helping us make them possible.”
Key to those plans is a young Italian rider, Ivan Basso. Basso placed third in last year’s Tour de France and is now in second place with one week left in the 2005 Tour de France. A new two-year agreement between Basso and Team CSC was also announced at today’s press conference. With this extension, Basso’s contract will run through the 2008 season.
